How hours and open-now status are computed
A pharmacy's schedule is stored as it was published by the pharmacy; everything you see as "open now", "closes in 40 minutes" or "closed for a break" is calculated from that schedule, on our server, at the moment you load the page.
Time zones
Every pharmacy carries its own IANA time zone (for example America/Chicago). Open or closed is always evaluated in that zone, so a visitor in New York sees the correct status for a pharmacy in Phoenix, where daylight saving time is not observed.
Pharmacy counter vs. store
Where a chain publishes both, we show the pharmacy counter's hours first and the store's hours separately. A store that is open does not mean its pharmacy is.
Breaks, overnight hours, 24 hours
Mid-day closures (lunch breaks) are stored as separate intervals and shown as "closed for a break" during that time. Schedules that end after midnight are handled as overnight intervals. "Open 24 hours" is only shown when the pharmacy counter itself is open around the clock every day of the week.
Holidays
Dated exceptions published by the pharmacy override the weekly schedule for that date. Not every chain publishes them; around public holidays, call ahead.
Duplicates and closed stores
One physical location can have several NPI records (pharmacy, durable medical equipment, specialty). Records at the same normalised address are merged into one listing. A chain store that disappears from the chain's own locator is marked closed and removed from lists.
Verification date
"Verified 2026-10-10 from Walgreens store locator" means the schedule was read from that source on that date. If a schedule cannot be re-checked for a prolonged period, the page says so.
